Helen Mirren Denies Tom Hardy Feud on MobLand Set

Dame Helen Mirren has dismissed reports of a falling out with Tom Hardy during the filming of their upcoming Apple TV+ series, MobLand. The claims, which surfaced earlier this week, suggested Hardy was dismissed from the project following disagreements with producers and that he left Oscar winner Mirren waiting on set.

Mirren, speaking to Deadline, emphatically denied any conflict. “There was no feud, absolutely not,” she stated. “Tom and I get on wonderfully. It’s all nonsense.” The reports alleged Hardy’s behaviour caused delays and prompted his exit from the historical crime drama, set in 1950s Italy and inspired by Niccolò Ammaniti’s novel La Scala di Seta.

MobLand, directed by Franco Nero, was slated to star Hardy and Mirren alongside other prominent actors. The series follows the story of a young American Muslim man who infiltrates the Mafia in order to save his family. While Hardy’s departure was confirmed by Apple TV+ earlier this week, the reason cited was a scheduling conflict.

Mirren’s comments directly contradict the initial reports which detailed a more dramatic departure. The actress's clarification is likely to quell speculation surrounding the production and reassure fans of the highly anticipated series. Production is continuing as planned, with Mirren remaining in her role.
