Beloved Gold Coast Man, Douglas Wood, Remembered by Large and Loving Family

The Gold Coast community is mourning the sudden passing of Douglas Charles Wood, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who died on June 28, 2025, at his home in Clear Island Waters. He was 82 years old.
Doug, as he was affectionately known, leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, deeply felt by his extensive family. He is remembered as the devoted husband of the late Lois Wood, and a loving father to Deborah, Christopher, Anthony, and Kate.
But Doug’s impact extended far beyond his immediate family. He was a proud and adored Papa to 13 grandchildren, and a 'Super Papa' to 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom will treasure the memories they shared with him. Family gatherings were a cornerstone of Doug’s life, and he always made sure everyone felt welcome and loved.
Those who knew Doug will remember him for his warm smile, his gentle nature, and his unwavering dedication to his family. He was a man of quiet strength and resilience, and he faced life’s challenges with grace and dignity.
“He was the heart of our family,” said a close family friend. “He always put others first, and he had a way of making everyone feel special.”
Details regarding a memorial service to celebrate Doug’s life are yet to be announced. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in Doug’s memory. His loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him, and he will be forever remembered as a man who lived a life filled with love, laughter, and family.
A Life Well Lived: Doug’s passing marks the end of a long and fulfilling life. He enjoyed many hobbies and interests, including gardening, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active member of the Clear Island Waters community and will be sorely missed by his friends and neighbours.
