LAS VEGAS – The Sphere at the Venetian Resort Las Vegas is set to host a groundbreaking UFC event, and UFC President Dana White is already acknowledging the monumental task ahead. In a recent interview, White compared the challenges of staging a UFC fight within the Sphere to the ambitious, yet currently unrealized, plan to host an event at the White House.
U.S. President Donald Trump initially proposed a UFC event on the White House lawn for July 4, 2026. While that idea sparked considerable buzz, White admitted there were significant hurdles to overcome, including logistical complexities and security concerns. He’s now facing a different, but equally demanding, set of challenges with the Sphere event.
“The White House thing was a big deal, but this Sphere thing… this is a whole other level,” White stated. “The White House has its own unique issues, for sure. Security, logistics, getting everything approved – it’s not easy. But the Sphere? It’s on a completely different scale.”
The Sphere, with its immersive technology and unprecedented scale, presents a unique set of logistical and technical hurdles. White elaborated on some of these difficulties, mentioning the need to adapt the entire fight presentation to the Sphere's capabilities, ensuring fighter safety within the unique environment, and managing the sheer volume of attendees. “We’re talking about a venue that’s unlike anything else in the world,” he explained. “Everything has to be custom-built and adapted. It’s not like we can just walk in and set up a regular fight card.”
