KL Trains, Buses Soon Accept Credit Card Tap-In
KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — Kuala Lumpur commuters will soon be able to utilise credit and debit cards for fare payments on trains and buses, eliminating the need for Touch 'n Go cards or tokens. Prasarana, the operator of the city's public transportation system, announced the project is currently in the award stage, signalling its imminent implementation.
The initiative aims to streamline the fare payment process and enhance convenience for passengers. Currently, commuters rely on Touch 'n Go cards, physical tokens, or mobile payment options linked to the system. The introduction of credit and debit card functionality offers a more readily accessible payment method for both residents and tourists.
Prasarana’s statement indicated that the project is progressing through the procurement process, with the awarding of contracts to vendors expected shortly.
