GEORGE TOWN, Aug 18 – Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has issued a stark warning: escalating traffic congestion caused by the state’s ambitious mega projects could significantly impact Penang’s economic competitiveness and even destabilize the government.

Speaking today, Chow emphasized the urgent need for federal funding to address these growing traffic concerns. He highlighted that Penang's ability to attract investment and maintain its status as a key economic hub hinges on its ability to ensure smooth transportation and efficient logistics.

“The current traffic situation is becoming increasingly untenable,” Chow stated. “While these mega projects are vital for Penang’s long-term growth, the resulting congestion is impacting businesses, residents, and overall quality of life.
