CAT Leads £1.5M Wales Climate Action Project

A new nationwide climate action project, named ‘Troi’r Llanw / Turning the Tide’, has been launched across Wales, spearheaded by the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) near Machynlleth. The project was officially unveiled on World Environment Day, Friday, thanks to a significant funding boost of £1,499,800 from The National Lottery Community Fund.
CAT, a renowned organisation dedicated to sustainable living and ecological technologies, will lead the three-year initiative. The project aims to empower communities across Wales to take meaningful action on climate change. Details about the specific actions the project will undertake are not yet fully available, but the launch signifies a major commitment to addressing environmental concerns at a grassroots level.
The National Lottery Community Fund, the UK’s largest community funder, provides grants to support a wide range of projects that benefit communities and address important social and environmental issues. This substantial investment underscores the fund’s dedication to tackling climate change and supporting innovative solutions at a local level. The funding will enable CAT to work with various community groups, local authorities, and other stakeholders to deliver the project's objectives and create a lasting positive impact on Wales’ environment.
The launch of ‘Troi’r Llanw / Turning the Tide’ comes at a crucial time, as Wales continues to grapple with the challenges posed by climate change. The project represents a vital opportunity to build resilience, reduce carbon emissions, and create a more sustainable future for all.
