Meta Buys Robotics AI Firm, Eyes Humanoid Robot Tech
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has acquired Assured Robot Intelligence (ARI), a robotics artificial intelligence company, to bolster its efforts in developing humanoid robot technology. The acquisition signals a significant step in Meta’s ambition to build advanced AI and hardware capabilities.
According to Meta, ARI's founders, Lerrel Pinto and Xiaolong Wang, will join Meta AI’s Superintelligence Labs. Pinto and Wang are recognized experts in robotics AI, and their expertise will be crucial in accelerating Meta’s research and development in this area. Details of the acquisition price were not disclosed.
