Shelby Twp. Police Use Drone to Find Fleeing Break-in Suspect

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI – Shelby Township police credit drone technology with assisting in the swift apprehension of two suspects following a breaking and entering incident. A woman and a juvenile are currently in custody after a brief chase that led through residential backyards in the Auburn-Ryan Road neighborhood.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call regarding a breaking and entering in progress. Upon arrival, the suspects fled the scene. A perimeter was established, and the Shelby Township Police Department deployed a drone to aid in the search.
“The drone proved essential in locating the suspects who were attempting to evade capture by running through the backyards of homes in the area,” stated a police spokesperson. “The aerial view provided by the drone allowed officers to quickly track their movements and safely apprehend them.”
The identities of the suspects have not yet been officially released. Further details regarding the breaking and entering, including the nature of the property targeted and any items stolen, are currently being withheld pending further investigation.
