Kopanong & Sebokeng Hospitals Reopen Wards on Monday

Gauteng’s Department of Health is set to reopen refurbished wards at Kopanong and Sebokeng hospitals this coming Monday. The reopening aims to alleviate overcrowding and enhance the quality of patient care at both facilities.
The upgrades are significant, including a fully renovated thirty-bed paediatric ward, designed specifically to cater to the needs of young patients. This ward has been modernised to provide a more comfortable and supportive environment for children receiving medical treatment.
Furthermore, a female psychiatric ward, which was previously closed, will also be reopened. This is a crucial step in addressing the mental health needs of the community and providing essential support services for women requiring psychiatric care. The reopening of this ward is expected to reduce waiting times and improve access to mental healthcare.
In addition to the paediatric and psychiatric wards, an additional medical ward has been added to both hospitals. This expansion will significantly increase the overall bed capacity, directly addressing the ongoing issue of overcrowding that has been a challenge at these facilities. The new ward will allow for more patients to be accommodated, reducing pressure on existing resources and improving the overall patient experience.
The Department of Health has stated that these renovations are part of a broader initiative to improve healthcare infrastructure across Gauteng. The focus remains on providing accessible, quality healthcare services to all residents. Further details regarding the reopening ceremony and specific services offered in the newly refurbished wards will be released closer to the date.
